“Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from.” – Seth Godin
Wow. This says it all, end of blog post.
I recently read this awesome book, Be a Free Range Human, and it was one of the best books I have read in a long time. Hint: You’re going to be hearing about this book a lot, if you stick around long enough here.
It really inspired me from page 1 and also gives actionable ways to create the life you really desire (while still paying the bills). I guess not everyone will react the exact same way, but for me…it spoke to me. This book was exactly what I need at this time, and it makes me super excited!
Marianne Cantwell speaks in a #realtalk, conversational way to really make you get to the heart of your strengths, desires, and motivations behind creating your own laptop life. (if that’s what you want. maybe you just want to make cupcakes like one of the other Free Rangers she profiled in the book.)
I also decided to participate in Natalie Sisson’s 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge. I figured this will be the kick in the pants I need to get going already. Do you see a pattern here?
I think most of my challenges are: (in no particular order)
procrastination/analysis paralysis/not feeling comfortable with the unknown/fear it may actually work out and then I’m accountable for knowing what the F%$# I’m supposed to be doing/etc, etc.
However, I keep getting drawn to Seth Godin’s quote above—create a life you don’t need to escape from. What would I be doing if time off from my job as a corporate slave wasn’t an issue? What if instead of waking up every Monday morning to a
soul-sucking inspiring conference call, where we get told whether we are good enough or not,…
Sorry, I blacked out daydreaming. Oh, you really wanted me to answer that question?
Okay. My ass would be taking my little son and my big husband and furry furkids everywhere around this great-big-beautiful world as humanly possible, while enjoying time at home together when we want, too. Working remotely from wherever we happen to be, handling any website/customer inquiries in the morning, and then going out to enjoy the beautiful world around us. Oh yes. That’s where you can find me. Ciao!
